Beautiful Flowers of Baguio

By on January 24, 2018

Just a small area beside the living room is the balcony, how can I resist to capture all these attractive flowers beside me? It seems it’s the right daylight to capture the nearest subject of photography;  the  dahlias, hybrid roses and the splendid blooming lavender flowers. Appreciating these December beauties, it’s just like springtime in Baguio.

Not a clearer dawn but I’m in the right mood to capture them. It’s interesting to include the landscape behind, with the low light camera adjustment, the background gives light and breathtaking effect. How tempting. Let me show you a few… Let’s get started!

Hybrid tea roses on sunrise and pine forest background. Constantly, you can see the good result in seasonal colors.

It looks darker red when the sun shines through it.

Another good choice are the Lavender flowers in individual containers on the balcony.

Early morning sun for the red Daisies.

Other aspects of photography and the best way to reconnect you with nature is to see these landscape photos I’ve captured around. You may also want to view Baguio landscapes and the tall pine trees.

Boating Experience at Burnham Park

By on January 23, 2018

A crowd-pleasing park located in the downtown area. It is a spacious center city park with a man-made lake designed for boating however, the water seems blurry and muddy in color. I’ve noticed a huge improvement this year. I remember there was once, Baguio faced one of its most trying times when a disastrous earthquake left other areas in ruins, that was in the year way back 1990. Clinically, far from before, it has a new look now which is more captivating, inviting and tourist-friendly city.

My Trip to Baguio City, the City of the Cool Sun

By on January 19, 2018

I’ve been keeping a daily journal of my past activities during our stay in Baguio city, it was a holiday vacation for family bonding. Now, I’m back home keeping track of the memorable moments of what my mood is each day. I remember there was once, a cold Tuesday morning, temperature drops at 12 degrees Celsius, I was in the balcony on the 5th floor wearing a bonnet and a hood to protect myself from cold.

With a hot cup of coffee on hand catching the glimpse of the entire city. My peaceful mind and relaxing feeling viewing from afar, I’ve seen a part of ‘’Camp John Hay’’ and the stunning foggy mountains as the sun is about to rise dramatically between them.

It was a moment of serenity and a quiet contemplation to welcome the start of the day  appreciating the beauty of Baguio as my location serves as the best area to watch the sunrise. Visually, it’s been a cold paradise, the city of the cool sun surrounding all tourist attractions.

My trip to Baguio was a wonderful cultural experience. To record and document all fruitful memories from behind is a good hobby. The February ‘’Panagbenga’’ festival 2018 {Saturday, Feb. 24 – March 24, 2018 Baguio city} is fast approaching and be back there again soon… just to cut this short for my next posts, see you there!

The Fairy Butterfly

By on December 1, 2017

There’s no preventive measures taken to drive away garden pests here especially the caterpillars, even if serious attacks can be expected to cause damages to some plants, it’s not that troublesome garden pests, damage is just mild and not severe. The coolness factor, they will surely turn into beautiful butterflies, a natural beauty and a good garden display for photography. I’m just waiting for that time.

Eventually, the right time comes earlier than expected, a white butterfly caught up hanging on a grass that looks like a beautiful and elegant fairy in bridal gown. It looks like a lavish floating angel wearing an ivory silk laced gown and skirt double flared with an outlined brownish shade that flows naturally downward…

There’s no absolutely no reason to have a boring garden, having some pollinators in the backyard garden gives me a wide range of possibilities to take good butterfly pictures with a number of different angles probably but this one is just simple but a hard to catch angle. More butterfly images next posts, all butterflies was captured in our own garden, call it our morning pollinators.

Fresh Fruit Salad in a Pineapple Boat

By on October 16, 2017

Serves 4

Time: 30 minutes

Do you know that a Pineapple boat makes an attractive serving dish for fresh fruit medley? I’ve made the right one to show you a beautiful piece of nutritious art work and a fresh fruit salad on the go! I like fruit salad because they added the advantage of being quick and easy to prepare and generally involve no cooking at all. I served Fresh fruit salad for my family every Sunday more traditionally as dessert but it can also be served as snacks too although, my choice will be guided by seasonal availability of fruits here in the Philippines. Living in the Philippines means enjoying the different kinds of fruits.

How to prepare Fresh fruit salad

A combination and assortment of close-but- different flavors such as; honeydew, ripe mangoes, kiwis, cherries, papaya, grapes, strawberries and watermelon. Almost any fruit mixture looks good and tastes good anyway, there’s nothing to worry about it as long as you know how to choose the fresh, soft and fragrant ones for this preparation.

Ingredients

I fresh pineapple

1 cup watermelon

I cup strawberry

1 whole nectarine

1 small pear

1 cup melon dew

¼ cup lime juice

2 tablespoons sugar or golden syrup

Prepare the pineapple boat as your serving bowl. Cut all fruits into a bite sized pieces; watermelon, strawberry, nectarine, and pears.(It’s up to you what kind of soft fruits you like to include) Photo shown below. Combine in a large bowl with lime juice and golden syrup. Spoon all fruits into pineapple shell. Cover and refrigerate it for 1 hour. Serve.

Note:

This can be made several hours ahead

Summer Outdoor Photography

By on September 11, 2017

I’m having a good time viewing particular scene, so busy checking and organizing old photos from summer outdoor photography. Months has been passed but still I can feel the scents of summer upon seeing it, how nice to bring back moments from before. Few photos shows broad and lovely setting that will surely change your mood, it depends upon time of the day taken. Result shows timely but to some photos, I admired. Check the results of my outdoor photography, it’s my daily collection to keep memories bright and alive all the time.

Sometimes, you don’t need to look afar, my surroundings has more to offer when it comes to my daily activities. I’m doing a good habit to find the best subject which is closer and nearest to home. Following my daily path, the bees, butterflies, birds, flowers and insects are the easiest to capture which serves as the best subject.

The refreshing image of hibiscus will give lushness of the garden. Gumamela widely spread around and it’s commonly called, ”Hibiscus Rosa Sinensis” I never miss to photograph the first flower appeared in the morning. What a cheerful sight to see all the glorious blooms!

Red Hibiscus is a Chinese single petal Gumamela  it’s commonly called,”Rose of China”

Another particular scene shows the reflections of the sun far from behind the Orange Gumamela

You can see here the natural light behind the subject, the widespread of sun rays reflections that passes through straight direction, it produces and fully emphasized multi-colored lights, it seems the flowers and the honeybee absorbs the light completely.

The direct sun rays pointing to the the honeybees while pollinating the flower, it makes the color of the 2 subjects to appear clearly brighter but it’s quiet dramatic. Scene like these, is a rare snapshots!

The last one, this image will probably change your mood, it was captured late in the afternoon…

It’s honeybee  olympics,”The Insect Olympics,” Let me show you some exciting and incredible tricks of the honeybees, you’ll see the worker bee performing some great deal of balance in the air while pollinating the flowers.
