Fungus on a Tree Trump

July 8, 2015

I’m just curious about their presence on the dead bark of a tree, I have had this kind before in our backyard but I didn’t pay much interest. A year after, I again saw the same species when I visited my sister and found these fungus on the dead trump of a huge tree that has been dead for long long time. The fungus looks like a translucent medium-sized mushrooms, brownish-thin in color.

I heard from an expert that once a fungus established on a dead tree, it spreads rapidly and no remedy except to burn the tree. Many fine trees with a slight bruise or other injury are infected and eventually killed by fungus. A long term storage of a dead tree and fungus is no good at all.
