Since the beginning of August, we’ve been experiencing intense monsoon rains and thunderstorms interspersed with short periods of sunshine and sudden heavy downpours. This weather pattern continues even now. This morning, I noticed some visiting pollinators and was delighted to see butterflies fluttering around the wet flowers.
I captured these butterflies as they quickly pollinate their favorite flowers during a brief pause in the rain.
I’m amazed at how butterflies can adapt to sudden changes from bright sunshine to heavy rain. I’m curious about how they can swiftly get to the flowers, even when the weather is fluctuating between heavy downpours and humidity. From what I understand, butterflies need to warm up their bodies and dry off in order to take flight. Over the past few days of intense rainfall, I’ve been able to observe their behavior. They seek refuge under big leaves during the downpour and as soon as the rain stops, they quickly flutter around to pollinate the flowers.Their toughness helps them keep playing a vital role in the ecosystem’s well-being and the growth of flowering plants.
